Freight Leads buying guide
New authority leads: what to check before you buy
New authority leads help businesses identify trucking companies at the start of their operation. But a new DOT registration and granted operating authority are not the same milestone. Choose records that match the conversation you want to have.

DOT registration is not proof of active authority
A USDOT number identifies a company in FMCSA records. When operating authority is required, it is a separate authorization. A DOT number alone does not establish that a carrier is authorized or insured to haul a particular load.
Check current records rather than assuming a registration date means the carrier is ready to operate. Requirements depend on the operation and cargo; this guide is not a substitute for regulatory or insurance advice.
Which Freight Leads record type fits?
DOT Registered Truckers are newly registered businesses at $1 per contact. Grant Registered Truckers are owner-operator contacts at $2 per contact and include an MC number. Both include a USDOT number.
Use DOT contacts to start a conversation with new businesses about their plans. Use Grant contacts when an MC number is useful for researching authority. Neither record type guarantees that a carrier still needs insurance, dispatch, factoring or financing.
What comes with each lead?
Business legal name, phone number, email address, street address, city, state, ZIP code, USDOT number, number of trucks and number of drivers are included. Grant leads also include the MC number.
New leads are sourced every single day, 365 days a year. Each record is individually verified before sending and sold only once by Freight Leads. Choose a state or no preference; low-volume single-state orders may take longer to fill.
Work the list with a clear qualification process
- Check the USDOT and, when included, MC number against current FMCSA records.
- Confirm the business, equipment, operating area and decision-maker when you reach the carrier.
- Ask whether your service is relevant now, instead of assuming registration proves buying intent.
- Record the outcome and agreed follow-up in your spreadsheet or CRM. Follow applicable calling and email rules.
